Stock levels accuracy using RFID at the POS
End consumers are increasingly accessing branded goods directly from manufacturers or from their websites. The g.a.x.-system directly uses local specialist retailers to take care of the processing of such online orders. Up to now, though, no information has been available about which bricks-and-mortar business have which products, in which quantities, sizes, colours, etc., in stock at the POS. The aim of this cooperation project is to generate this information by means of an automatic data screening and analysis using RFID, and to gain an understanding of its usage for the g.a.x. e-commerce solution.

Goods delivery - environmentally friendly, punctual and reliable
For more and more business, sending and receiving parcels using bicycle couriers is a daily occurrence. Incollaboration with the bicycle courier City-Biker.de, gaxsys GmbH has established a test market in the Mannheim/Ludwigshafen greater metropolitan area. Using the process intrinsic to the g.a.x.-system which gives the order to the retailer located nearest the delivery address, gaxsys GmbH is pursuing a "green logistics" approach which also supports local dealers - gaxsys GmbH can rely on delivery professionals on high-tech bikes: City-Biker.de ensures that goods reach their destination punctually and reliably, and in an environmentally friendly manner.
Influence of 3D logistic solutions on the CO2 footprint of the retail industry
Purchase requests in brand web shops are forwarded to the manufacturer's dealer network via the g.a.x.-system. The closest retailer who can meet the order is prioritised by the system. This avoids long journeys and reduces the CO2 footprint. Bicycle couriers are also used, and this has a significant effect on lowering CO2 levels. The scope of the dissertation should include an investigation of the influence on the CO2 footprint of goods sold using the g.a.x.-system as opposed to traditional sales methods. Supervision will be carried out by Dr. Thomas + Partner, Locom and the Institute for Conveying Technologies and Logistics (IFL).
